Movement Advancement Project (MAP) provides independent and rigorous research, analysis, and messaging to initiatives across the US working to advance equality and opportunity for LGBTQ+ people, with particular emphasis on transgender people, LGBTQ women, LGBTQ people with children, LGBTQ older adults, LGBTQ people of color, and other people who have been particularly impacted by intersectional inequities.

The data and communications resources that MAP produces have helped build support for the protection of transgender healthcare and sports participation; have helped document the need for federal nondiscrimination protections; have informed inclusive state hate crime, data collection, and identity document laws and policies, and much more. Moreover, MAP’s Open to All coalition is partnering with businesses to build and showcase retail environments that are welcoming, safe, and inclusive for both customers and employees. RWN Foundation was excited to learn about MAP’s data-driven, policy-focused capacity and coalition building.
